Kingdom PR has produced many successful national and international industry thought-leaders and spokespeople over the years, working across various sectors since the company’s conception in 2014. 

PRODUCING ‘VOICE OF REASON’ SPOKESPEOPLE

Kingdom PR’s media training aims to produce competent and ‘voice of reason’ spokespeople who can articulate their key messages and follow important processes while remaining calm under pressure. This training focuses on understanding news, the media landscape, the role of the journalist and the spokesperson, how to handle media interviews well, and how to proactively engage with the media as a stakeholder. 

PRACTICE INTERVIEWS WITH A JOURNALIST

Two to three nominated spokespeople from the organisation will have the opportunity to have a practice interview with a trained journalist from the Kingdom PR team. This interview is recorded and participants are given feedback using Kingdom PR’s scorecard system, which covers elements of the interview from body language, presentation, and how well the participant delivers the key messaging. This training is a pre-requisite for ongoing media relations work with our team. These short interviews can be completed as needed, even after the media training, for when a spokesperson wants to practice or before a real interview is lined up. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understanding the importance of Public Relations and when to call your Public Relations team. 
  • Understanding the role of the New Zealand media and how the media can impact an organisation's reputation. 
  • Understanding the types of issues that could lead to media being involved.
  • Understanding the role of the spokesperson and what responsibilities and qualities they should have. 
  • Understanding and demonstrating a best-practice process for handling media enquiries and unexpected media onsite. 
  • Understanding key messaging and best-practice delivery. 
  • If a nominated spokesperson, the participant will practice an interview and have the opportunity to receive a media training certificate of completion.

Kingdom PR offers an intensive one-day workshop for Crisis Management Teams, combining crisis communications, risk management and media training for the appointed spokespeople. 

OVERVIEW 

Following the Kingdom PR Crisis Management Plan (CMP) Workbook, you will cover scenario building, risks, roles and responsibilities, and develop a crisis communications process for your organisation. Participants will leave with a communications action plan and should be confident that should there be an issue or a crisis, they have a process to follow and the skills needed to lead and communicate well with stakeholders. 

CRISIS SCENARIOS IN PRACTICE

Every organisation has been able to tell us the headline they would never want to see in the media. But what if the worst case was to happen? From natural disasters, physical threats, injury or death, ethical and moral breaches to technological malevolence, having a Crisis Communications Team (CMT) and a Crisis Communications Plan (CMP), not only demonstrates good organisational governance, it works to protect your organisation’s reputation and the community of people you care for. We recommend that CMT’s are comprised of the Board Chairperson, Board Member, Elder, Senior Pastor, or Senior Leader, General Manager, Communications Manager, and Admin Officer or Office Manager. 

LEARNING OUTCOMES

  • Understand crisis communication in the context of your industry. 
  • Identify potential crises relative to your organisation.
  • Complete the Crisis Management Plan Workbook, a comprehensive strategy and plan for responding to crises, including team members' roles and responsibilities, communication protocols, and escalation procedures.
  • Demonstrate appropriate crisis response strategies and techniques for managing the immediate response to a crisis, including initial statements, media handling, and social media management.
  • Media Spokesperson Training on how to effectively communicate with media outlets during a crisis, the process for crafting consistent and compassionate messages that align with the organisation's values.
  • Understand the importance of social media and have strategies for monitoring and responding to online conversations and addressing misinformation or negative sentiment on social media platforms.
  • Identify the importance of stakeholder communications during a crisis and the appropriate channels and order of stakeholder communication.
  • Filling out the Kingdom PR CMP workbook while completing practical scenario exercises provides a structured framework to proactively prepare for and effectively manage a crisis.
